Overview
Manga Translator lets you read manga and webtoons in another language without leaving the page. It uses Tesseract to recognize text in the browser, then sends that text to your chosen translation service. Translations appear over the speech bubbles or in a separate reading panel. The extension processes visible images first and prepares the next five while you read.
Key features
- Translations over speech bubbles, with a separate reading panel option
- English, French and Arabic recognition included; more languages download on first use
- A selection tool for speech bubbles that automatic detection missed
- Google Translate, MyMemory or LibreTranslate as the translation service
- Read-ahead for the next five images and cached translations
- Hover to see the original text and retry images that failed
Text recognition runs locally in the browser. Translation needs an internet connection and sends the recognized text to the selected service. Small lettering and unusual fonts can still confuse the OCR.
